It’s Groundhog Day! Phil has told us Spring is in the air. No shadow this year (despite us being able to see his shadow, apparently it did not spook him).
Have you ever watched this ceremony? All those guys with top hats, reading from scrolls, being all Monopoly Guy proper. How does one become the Punxsutawney Phil groundhog handler? Is there a store there that custom makes their fancy suits? 🤔
It reminds me of the quote often spoken in the show Letterkenny; “Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.“
I don’t know what these guys do the other 364 days a year, but I’m sure a number of days are filled with planning next year’s Turkey Knob festivities and prepping for the masses of people screaming “All hail Phil!” They gotta love their job. Keeping a tradition alive, putting on a show.
Obviously that’s probably not the case for the majority of us. It’s more of a do what you can tolerate that pays the bills, and hopefully it funds a hobby you love.
Life happens though, and that doesn’t always work out either. The grass may or may not be greener on the other side, but that doesn’t stop me from thinking about the top hat guys that worship a groundhog that predicts the weather in the 21st century. What a time to be alive!
