Last weekend we ventured up to Cleveland for the annual Comicon. We attended in 2020 when it was Wizarding World, and then COVID shut the world down just after it. Of course it didn’t happen in 2021, and it went from WW to FanExpo. Last year was amazing. I met William Shatner and John de Lancie. A friend’s daughter had come with us and met Rodger Bumpass (Squidward). There were so many Cosplayers and Artists, that I knew we were now stuck going every year because the girls loved it.
This year was just as spectacular. We spent some time walking around, taking in the costumes and art. There were loads of static displays from Star Wars to Ghostbusters. Stuffed animals, books, games, and even build your own lightsaber tables filled the aisles amongst the artists. Of course lots of stickers and keychains were purchased.
Our highlight this year was meeting Sean Gunn (we had a photo taken with him and got his autograph) and Christopher Lloyd (it was expensive to do both so we just got his autograph and then everyone shook hands or high-fived him). There were other celebrities we would have liked to have met, but it gets expensive very quickly and we have so much going on this year that we would like to do that we had to limit ourselves.
It was even a good weather day after having super high winds the day before that left a lot of people without power or internet. We didn’t have to walk around as characters “with a jacket” like we do basically every Halloween. That’s the joke with Ohio, “Oh, you can be Superman…with a jacket!”
Dates are already set for April 2024 and I’m sure we will find ourselves in Cleveland once again. I can’t wait to see who the lineup is!
