We had a Service Unit Event today with Girl Scouts and went to the local bowling alley. We haven’t been to the bowling alley in almost two years because of the pandemic and I have to say, we all missed it. The sounds, the food, the claw machine. It’s a whole vibe. We did homeschool bowling in the past before the pandemic hit and I remember watching an older couple come in (this was early afternoon) and go back to the pool tables and play a few games, and I always thought, man, that’s what I want retirement to be. Just go hang out at the bowling alley and play pool on a Wednesday afternoon. What a life!
We’d love to start going bowling more, but I must admit, it’s not an easy thing to accomplish safely in the pandemic. Bowling alleys are germ fests in general with rental shoes and community bowling balls and groups of people packed next to each on lanes and everyone touching the claw machine buttons. Good hygiene/hand sanitizer was our friend for the day, and masking when we weren’t eating.
The girls got in two games, and then some of them did a little putt putt golf since it was offered for free if our games finished up before our timeslot was over. Then we hit the arcade for some claw machine candy and rubber ducks. Of course they took a few turns on the big claw machine, hoping to get Barry from the Bee Movie, but no such luck this time.
