Traveling around the world, looking for ancient treasures, seeing historical sites, what’s not to love? I bounced between Anthropology, Archaeology, Geology, and Forensics. In the end, I ended up with about a third of the college credits needed for an Associate’s Degree in Science, with my last college class I attended being as recent as the Summer of 2020.

Anyway, I love hunting for fossils, metal detecting, stopping at every metaphysical shop I drive by for crystals, and of course, touring caves. We’ve been to a few caves in Pennsylvania over the years, but Penn’s Cave is one the kids haven’t been to before. They have a wildlife park there as well, but those tours were sold out for the day, so we only did the cave tour. The cool thing about Penn’s Cave is that you don’t walk through it, you ride a boat through it!

The water is only a few feet deep in places, and they blew out the end of the cave and made a man made lake years and years ago, so you go through the cave, take a turn on the lake, and then go back through the cave. The boat motors are pretty quiet, so it’s easy to hear the cave guide. They mix in some cave history along with cute stories of what some of the formations look like.

We did some “gemstone panning”, spent way too much money in the gift shop, and checked another PA cave off our list.
