After our Appalachian Trail stop, we continued our adventure to Gettysburg. It was later in the day, so we did a super quick stop at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center. We have been through the museum before, so we only looked at the free displays and did a quick stop in the gift shop before heading to the town “square”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That square is really a large roundabout. We were nearing closing time for most of the shops, but we hit the sweets shop and comic shop, and saw Lincoln’s statue near the Wills House where Lincoln slept the night before his Gettysburg Address speech. We’ve done a lot of the shops and battlefields before, but decided we would cruise around the battlefield to stop at a few places. We hit Spangler’s Spring, the observation tower at Culps Hill, the Oak Ridge observation tower, and the Eternal Light Peace Memorial, plus drove by some of the other places on the Battlefield Tour Map. The Little Round Top area was closed off, so we didn’t hit that section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sun was starting to set, so we headed back into Gettysburg for dinner. One of the kiddos had cracked a joke the day before at the hotel about how there should be a sandwich shop that had a burger called “The Gettysburger”. Low and behold, a quick internet search yielded a restaurant called The Gettysburger. They had excellent food and a great atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
