The fields around us were all a part of the property and the barn across the street was built by the same guy that built our house, John Brown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Along the way, it was sold off, and our parcel is only 5 acres, including the house, 2 garages, and around 2.5 acres of woods. We have chickens, and I pretended to homestead with ducks, rabbits, bees, and gardening in the past, but I&#8217;m not a very good homesteader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Still, being in the country with a barn across the street, we look like a working farm. That means stray drop offs. That means mostly cats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of our strays I call BB (Bitty Baby), has some surviving kittens in our junk pile. I had found them right after they were born, and was able to place them in a cage to catch their mom (Bitty). I got her fixed before releasing her, but haven&#8217;t seen her in a long while now. I have BB pretty tame now, so I&#8217;m hoping once the nursing stage is done I can catch her to get her fixed, and the babies too.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our house used to be a farmhouse.
